Description
The Lime Defensive Riding Course is suitable for any rider above the age of 5 with a escooter licence.
Overall Objective
The overall objective of the Course is to help develop an Avoidance Attitude (the principle of Defensive Driving), backed up with good practical skills by placing them in emergency situations in a controlled environment at safe speeds.
Course Schedule
The day begins at 8.30am with registration and finishes at approximately 4.00pm with a presentation of certificates.
The course consists of a 50/50 mix of practical and classroom sessions and is suitable for all riders over the age of 5 regardless of experience.

- Tyre and maintenance and effect on scooter performance
- Emergency Braking Techniques, both jumping off and Standard braking
- Steering and Searching
- Standing position
- Skid Avoidance
- Cornering Skills
- Defensive Driving Principles and the Road Code
Individual Coaching
Each rider has several attempts at each practical exercise and is given instant feedback on every attempt. Participants also learn by observing and analysing other riders' performances.
Reports
Following every course, individual reports covering both the condition of the scooter and tyres, along with a Skills Assessment covering both rider skills and attitude to riding, are emailed to individuals directly
