Safe Driving Tips

National Advanced Driver’s School

All Drivers can Improve their Driving!

Not all New Zealanders received professional driving instruction when they learnt to drive and if they did it was targeted at passing a driving test.  This means that there are often significant knowledge gaps for many motorists on how to operate a vehicle safely.

Driving habits develop over years and poor habits are commonly on view on New Zealand’s roads. The way we drive vehicles has also changed. Modern vehicles perform quite differently to older vehicles and adjustments are needed in some situations. Some drivers have forgotten what they were taught, become complacent or just picked up a few bad habits.  Its important to remember we can all be better drivers!

When we are driving we are in charge of those that are most important to us, colleagues, family and friends.  So its important we do our best.

Safe Driving Tips - Avoiding Driver Distractions

Avoiding Driver Distractions

We ask our participants at the start of each course “How good are New Zealand’s Drivers?”. Typically, they do not rate them very highly saying they are, aggressive, distracted, bullying, inattentive and inconsiderate. A far cry from the generous “easy going” kiwi persona we like to think of ourselves as being. Most drivers think they…
